Should Beowulf be considered a classic?

No, I beleive that the plot is too paper thin even though the characters and setting are unique the story is too predictable in my opinion. Book age should have nothing to do with the quality of the book. I don't think myths should be preeched other than greek mythology, but on that note no greek mythology is considered a classic; so why should beowulf? I think Beowulf should be recognized as a good movie since it is loaded with action, but it does not provide the challenge of reading a classical book such as books written by shakespeare where every story is completely diverse and of different eras. Learning how to interpret old english is useful in many ways and Beowulf doesn't use old english even though it is based in the 5th century it is much easier to interpret than shakespeare's work.
